Welcome!

The Lil’ Red Cabin is a unique cabin rental experience. It is for the rugged, the hiker, the camper, the nature lover and those who want to truly unplug and unwind. It is located on the edge of Bridge Lake, on 126 private acres known as “The Bridge Lake Preserve.” A private, family-owned nature retreat, the nearest neighbor is a quarter of a mile away… across the lake. It is a rarity these days to have natural forrest land that has been preserved and managed to create a diverse habitat for wildlife, bird life, fisheries and forest flora. The cabin features over 5 miles of scenic hiking and mountain biking trails have been cut through the hard woods, Cedar Pine groves and scenic lake views, walks through wet lands and original Big Pine groves. No hunting is allowed on the property, so deer, bear, coyotes, wild turkeys and many other species can be spotted on the property. We suggest you bring your camera!

Bridge Lake is spring fed with crystal clear waters and a soft silt bottom, perfect for fishing, kayaking, swimming and power sports. Watch bald eagles perch right in front of the cabin, and hear the call of the loons echo over the lake. Fly fish at dusk for rainbow trout, or catch & release both small & large mouth bass, who are constantly patrolling the drop off.

Bridge Lake Preserve is a unique property because it has lake frontage on two lakes. We have over 3,000 feet of natural undeveloped lake frontage. Bridge Lake connects to Big Chub Lake by a small river with a sandy bottom… over 800 feet of your very own lazy river! Perfect for wading in or floating on your inner tube or stand up paddle boarding.

Come find out why the Lil’ Red Cabin equals BIG FUN, BIG ADVENTURES, and memories that will last a life time!

The Cabin

The Lil’ Red Cabin has approximately 1,000 square feet of interior space, and sleeps up to 6 guests comfortably. It features a full kitchen, and a living room with a wood burning fireplace. It has 2 bedrooms: The Primary Bedroom features a king size Sterns & Foster pillow top mattress with an on-suite bathroom. The Secondary Bedroom is known as “The Bunk House” and features a full size bunk bed that can comfortably sleep 4 kids or 2 adults. The sofa in the living room can be folded out as an optional 4th bed.

Larger parties can inquire about renting one of our one property campsites or airstream trailer. (Coming Soon)

The Kitchen:

The Kitchen Features: Refrigerator, Electric Stove and Range, Dishwasher, Coffee Maker, Microwave Oven, New Pots and Pans, Utensils. (**Utensils are kept in lock tight Tupperware containers to keep critters out.**) The Pantry offers plenty of space to keep your non-refrigerated food.

** We have worked very hard to keep critters out of the cabin. Keeping food off of the counters and in the pantry, and keeping dirty dishes in the dishwasher helps keep mice and chipmunks out of the cabin. Keeping trash in the sealed trash cans will keep the bears and raccoons from ripping in to the trash.

Decks, Docks & Outdoor Space

Much of the “Up North Magic” happens outdoors. The Lil’ Red Cabin features 3 decks and 2 docks. (One of the docks is off limits as the Owners Dock)

The main deck has 4 rocking chairs, 4 outdoor “Club” chairs, a double Chaise lounger made of teak wood, a teak wood dining table for up to 8 guests, and a deck side fire chiminea.

There is a small lake-side yoga or stretching deck. And there is a private deck behind the party shed for private sunbathing for those who don’t want any tan lines.

The outdoor space also features hammocks, a badminton court area, corn hole game, a lakeside fire pit and sandy sitting area in front of the lake.

I encourage everyone to turn off all the lights, walk down to the dock with a flashlight on a clear night then turn off that flashlight and check out the gorgeous night sky!

Our Story

For the first time ever, WE ARE SHARING our happy place with you! So you can create all those wonderful “Up North Memories” for you and your family. To be honest, we are both excited and nervous at the same time. We are excited to share this experience with others and a little nervous at the same time… This cabin and surrounding 126 acres is a part of an 1,100 acre family compound that has been in the family for 4 generations. The Lil’ Red Cabin is an original 1945 hand built log cabin. It is situated in an old growth pine stand, some trees are only 6 inches away from the cabin. The cabin and the trees are irreplaceable. We have a strict no smoking policy… both indoors and out. Fireworks and Firearms are not permitted on the property and all outdoor “camp fires” must be burned in the provided outdoor fire pits or chimineas. They all must be fully extinguished before retiring to bed.

We have had a lot of fun over the years, but we have also have had plenty of scrapes, cuts, bumps and bruises. So an abundance of caution should be used on the lake and on the trials, especially if you are mountain biking, helmets should be worn while biking, life jackets should be worn while on the lake, aqua shoes are recommended while on the dock and in the lake/ river to protect your feet.

Many of the activities that make the “Up North Experience” fun are also inherently dangerous. If you are renting any of the kayaks, stand up paddle boards, row boat, sail boat, inner tubes or mountain bikes, you may be asked to sign a rental agreement which is also a release of liability.

We have invested in proper reflective signage that will direct guests (or god forbid EMT’s) to the cabin through over 1 mile of dirt two track roads through the wooded area.

Although we are dog lovers, at this time we are not accepting pets at the cabin. This is for the pets best interest. They are no fences here, we have ticks, porcupines, skunks, coyotes, and eagles on the property. Nothing ruins a family vacation like an emergency trip to the vet with a dog with a mouthful of porcupine quills. It is a terrible experience for the dog and the owners. So for now we will not be hosting pets.

We hope that you enjoy your time at the Lil’ Red Cabin as much as we have!
